This listed Farmhouse has been totally refurbished to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Enjoy the beautiful scenery throughout the year with the benefit of gas ch. and the warmth of a log burner to keep you toasty throughout the winter evenings.

Please inform your group of Menadue boundaries as shown on the site plan and please keep within them. Menadue is surrounded by agricultural land and a public footpath and we ask you to remember the Countryside Code:
The farmhouse has a telephone for emergencies, the number is 01840 770 477. The farmhouse also WiFi and the access code will be shared on confirmation of your booking.
You will be instructed of where to get keys for the buildings you have booked when your confirmation has been made.
There are certain areas kept private for storage of maintenance equipment. Please respect the privacy of the Menadue Trust and protect the safety of yourselves by leaving treating these buildings as out of bounds.
The lights outside the barn, accommodation and toilet blocks are operated by sensors (dusk to dawn) and need no operation whilst you are on site.
Instructions for using the appliances in the farmhouse are in a folder in the kitchen. Please don’t remove any items of equipment or furniture from the farmhouse or main kitchens. Any problems, please do not take risks but use the phone number on the website or your booking e-mail to gain support and possible action required.
The gas heating in the farmhouse is controlled by a domestic-type timer unit located in the boiler room and a thermostat at the top of the stairs. Please do not change any of the settings as the farmhouse is very old and requires constant care and attention including correct temperatures and ventilation. For specific needs of vulnerable guests please raise the discussion before arrival for your stay so that we can support your needs.
The underfloor heating in the dormitory block is set and controlled remotely.

For the comfort of all our clients, we do not allow smoking inside any of the buildings.
The Trustees operate their own Public Liability insurance; clients are advised to arrange their own insurance to cover any liability relating to their group.
Please be aware that leaders of groups with children are responsible for all aspects of child protection during your stay at Menadue.
We expect group leaders to maintain a reasonable level of behaviour, but we accept that breakages do happen. Please report and damage, breakages or faulty equipment as soon as possible so that it can be repaired or replaced. Charges will be incurred for extensive damage, at the Trust’s discretion.
Please use the car park and avoid parking on the verges or the grass in front of the cottage. Bin collection and emergency vehicles need the turning circle in front of the farmhouse so do not park in this space. Thank you.
Waste skips are located against the wall opposite the entrance to the car park.
There are 2 waste streams in operation:
a. General waste; includes food waste, paper towels, all sanitary waste and glass
b. Dry, mixed recyclables, except glass
Minimise the volume of waste by flattening boxes, crushing cans and plastic milk bottles and removing both ends of tins.
General waste should be collected in black plastic sacks before placing in a general waste bin.
Plastics and tins should be washed before placing in a recycling bin.
Please don’t put paper towels and sanitary products down the toilet – use the bins provided.
The Trustees permit bonfires at Menadue provided that the precautions, printed on a separate sheet, are followed. There is a fire pit area in the corner of the smaller field, for your use. Please do not use the logs meant for the log burner. Fireworks and ‘Chinese Lanterns’ are not permitted.
The log burner in the lounge should be operated only by a competent adult. There is a supply of logs in the derelict building outside the kitchen back door, to the left.
Owing to the general conditions at Menadue, regrettably, from time to time, breakdowns and other issues do occur. We aim to deal with these in a way which minimises the impact on your group during your stay. Please follow the instructions detailed on a separate sheet.
Dogs are allowed at Menadue but please, not upstairs and not on the furniture. Please clear up after your dog.
Cleaning materials, toilet rolls, paper towels etc are included. If supplies run out there are more in the Cleaning Store.
Please familiarise yourself with the farmhouse Fire Alarm system, particularly how to reset the system in the event of a ‘false alarm’.
Please note that the farmhouse washing machine and dryer are provided for personal clothing items only. Please do not use them for washing sleeping bags, blankets, quilts etc.

You can have the use of the whole site which includes the farmhouse, the separate dormitory block, the barn and commercial barn kitchen, and shower/toilet blocks, and the multi-use studio space. Plus, if you have an extra large group, there are two fields available where we can provide space for camping, if you bring your own tents.

Supplies of paper towels, toilet rolls and toilet cleaners are provided. We recommend daily cleaning of all facilities as a minimum.
There are table tennis tables, table football and a pool table for your use. Bats, balls, nets and cues are provided. Football games are not allowed inside the barn. The barn provides an eating area for 100 people, with crockery and cutlery and a dishwasher.
The main kitchen measures approximately 40’ and is equipped with 2 Falcon 6-burner ranges, a large chest freezer, 2 large fridges, and a microwave. There is sufficient cooking equipment to cater for 100 people. Hot water for drinks is provided by a Burco boiler.
Cleaning materials are provided. Please ensure that all worktops and the floor are cleaned daily.
We recommend that leaders preparing food should have had basic food hygiene training. Instructions for the operation of cooker, and hot water boiler are wall-mounted adjacent to the relevant appliance.

The fields having sloping areas with a flat space on each field. You will have full responsibility for your tents and campers. Do not allow anyone to climb on the tents or ropes. You will need to carry out your own assessment of the risks of having people sleeping in tents.
